Biography – Penelope Jane Whiteley

Penelope Jane Whiteley is a business woman, designer, author, international speaker and mentor.

Her life started in London, where she was born into a musical and artistic family. Penelope’s stage career began at the age of three. She progressed to school plays, piano and dance competitions and finally to professional theatre. Her progress was only impeded by a few years at medical school.

On the death of her father she moved to Australia to assume control of the family companies which included a property investment company and a successful international music publishing company.

Through partnerships and joint ventures, she established a music production company, as well as a television production company.

Artistic Pursuits

Penelope worked in theatre in the UK (including in the West End), Australia and Canada; with Eric Sykes, Tony Randall, Jack Smethurst, David McCallum, Jack Klugman, and Katy Manning, to name but a few.

She has appeared on television in the UK and Australia and has written, produced and directed for Television and Radio, including pilot episodes of a comedy series.

Penelope Jane Whiteley designed and developed copyright and royalty systems for the music industry and her systems were adopted by several music publisher associations.

She occasionally works as a photographer and writer for magazines and journals.

Fashion Designer

Today, Penelope designs and manufactures ‘Glamour Basics’. A range of clothing specifically created for women of a certain age.

She is also the creative force behind Specsthing, a range of brooch accessories, with or without bling, that keep your glasses in easy reach.


Penelope Jane Whiteley is the author or books such as ‘Hot Stuff: the Ultimate Guide to Style for Women of a Certain Age’ and ’25 Ways to a Happier, Healthier You’.

She has been invited to speak to audiences around the world on taboo topics such as ‘Sex…and life after 50’, ‘The Business of Busyness’ and ‘Aging Disgracefully – The Secrets of Aging successfully’.

Social Responsibility

She works with the Red Cross, as well as being an ardent supporter of WSPA and Ovarian Cancer Research.
